Rest for the Red Flower

We danced like a fairy tale through the brush on towards home
Holding hands, we skipped down the naked lake all alone
Fields of thorns engulf our path not harming us at all
Running and not looking back, I hear the sky call
The ground opens up and you fall in

I'll lay you down to rest
For the red flower pinned nicely on your breast
I'll lay me down next with the black tears of my soul
Eating through that everlasting hole

We sang to the birds and picked the wings off butterflies
And we tortued the heart of each other until one of us cried
We listened to the night song of the owls high above
Smiling so brightly our teeth white as a dove
But the ground opened up,and you fell in

I'll lay you down to rest
For the red flower pinned nicely on your breast
I'll lay me down next with the black tears of my soul
Eating through that everlasting hole
